Private Pilot Ground School

Earn 5 college credits in just three weeks at The Museum of Flight!

Private Pilot Ground School (PPGS) is a unique course that provides the opportunity for rising 9th-12th grade students* to explore the world of aviation while creating a base of aeronautical knowledge that pilots need to successfully pass the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) private pilot exam.

*Because this is a public school class, we are only able to serve residents of Washington state.

Dates: Monday, June 27, 2022 to Friday, July 15, 2022 (No class Monday, July 4)
Time: 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM; Monday-Friday
To earn the 0.5 high school elective credit, students cannot miss more than two days of class.

Program Information:

Instructors are licensed pilots and educators who engage students in hands-on learning in The Museum of Flight’s state-of-the-art flight simulation lab and through team projects. Students will meet fascinating professionals in the aviation industry and take field trips to local aviation and aerospace companies. Students will build a foundation in aviation that will help them excel regardless of the career pathway they choose to pursue.

Learning takes place on The Museum of Flight campus at Boeing Field, often referred to as “the Smithsonian of the West.” An incredible collection of aircraft, spacecraft, galleries, exhibits, facts and stories that embody the past, present and future of flight make this summer program memorable for a lifetime. Part of the experience includes classroom instruction at Raisbeck Aviation High School, a nationally recognized STEM school, also located on The Museum of Flight campus.
