COE Grant Tracking: Strengthening Community Colleges, Recompete and Domestic Manufacturing Conversion Grants

Across Federal agencies, grant funding continues to flow to educational institutions, states and local areas and local non-profits with dollars dedicated to advancing the clean manufacturing goals of the Biden administration. A few recent grants the Center of Excellence is tracking:

Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grants
Department of Labor
Employment and Training Administration

The fourth round of Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grants will increase the capacity and responsiveness of community colleges to meet the skill development needs of employers and equitably support students in obtaining good jobs in in-demand industries.  Applicants will use strategies rooted in evidence and designed to build further evidence on the effectiveness of sector-based career pathways programs in leading to positive employment outcomes.  These strategies will also address identified equity gaps to increase full access to educational and economic opportunity–particularly for individuals from historically underserved communities.

Recompete Pilot Phase 1

Department of Commerce

Economic Development Administration

Awards made will seek to alleviate persistent economic distress and support long-term comprehensive economic development and job creation in places with a high prime-age (25 to 54 years) employment gap. EDA will seek to invest in programs and organizations that have a clear understanding of local conditions and pathways to create and connect people with good jobs while ensuring the program’s benefits are shared equitably and across diverse geographies.

Domestic Manufacturing Conversion Grants

Department of Energy

Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains

These grants aim to support the refurbishment and retooling of manufacturing facilities that have recently ceased operations or are at risk of doing so, with the objective of retaining the existing workforce, preventing facility closures, strengthening domestic manufacturing, creating clean energy jobs, and offering union opportunities.
