Last week the Aviation Technician Education Council (ATEC) released its 2022 pipeline report The report includes information on A&P mechanic certificate holders and schools, like Everett Community College, that prepare students to enter a growing and critical field.
ATEC reports that the most recent year saw an increase in newly certified mechanics, but not enough to offset momentum lost during the pandemic. The pipeline for new technicians is still at least 20% below the levels needed to meet rising demand.
Beyond the numbers, ATEC highlights policy recommendations, including increasing high school pipeline programs and ensuring there are enough examiners to serve students and industry.
The 37-page report includes a directory of participating schools and is available here.
