Today we are pleased to present the Counselor’s Guide to Apprenticeship. We thank the Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center for the recent invitation to present at the Washington School Counselors Association, spurring the creation of the guide.
As apprenticeships in aerospace and advanced manufacturing grow, the Counselor’s Guide to Apprenticeship brings the basics of apprenticeship to an important group of stakeholders. Guidance counselors at high schools and skills centers are a linchpin in alerting students to all the opportunities available at graduation, and this guide will help them speak to the benefits of apprenticeship.
Advisory board members AJAC and The Machinists Institute provided input on the guide, ensuring it accurately reflects the steps to enter apprenticeship. And with information about entering apprenticeship in construction and other fields, it was critical that other stakeholders reviewed the guide. We thank the Northwest Carpenters Institute, The Washington State Labor Council, the Construction Center of Excellence, the Sno-Isle TECH and New Market Skills Centers, Washington State Building and Construction Trades Council for their input.
