The Research and Development Laboratory at Janicki Industries is tasked with supporting production programs and developing standard products. The R&D Technician plays a key role in support of these goals. The primary responsibilities of the R&D Technician I include composite fabrication, cure cycle management, test specimen fabrication, measurement, and simulated life cycle testing. Attention to detail, critical thinking, and clear communication are all necessary. Future opportunities include material testing, data analysis, and process development.
Interfaces with the R&D Manager and R&D Engineers to understand project requirements.
Follows work instructions with a high level of detail.
Fabricates test specimens and fixtures.
Layup of composite materials.
Required to operate and maintain laboratory equipment
Must adhere to company safety policies.
Assists in the creation of testing instructions and procedures
Must maintain workspace cleanliness and organization.
Must be able to prepare samples to both ASTM and JI standards
Supports engineering in estimating labor and duration of tests as needed
Continually evaluates testing methods to improve on work flow and accuracy.
Behavior: The incumbent must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. The incumbent shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors. A special emphasis on execution to JI documentation and procedural control is imperative for this job.

Composite fabrication experience is required. A two-year technology degree or laboratory experience is desired.
