POSITION DESCRIPTION

The duties of the Shipbuilding Press Operator include, but are not limited to:

Operate Nieland 1000 Ton Shipbuilding Press, forming plates to match templates
Ability to prepare and run complex bend setups and forming operations
Understanding of print reading and geometric tolerances and how they relate to the finished part.
Thorough understanding of flat pattern layout.
Operate overhead crane
Ability to work in an efficient and timely manner.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Being at work on time and maintaining good attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job.
Behavior: The incumbent must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. The incumbent shall demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SPECIALIZED TRAINING:

MUST BE U.S CITIZEN OR LEGAL PERMANENT RESIDENT FOR THIS POSITION

Proof of US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required due to access to sensitive data and our coverage under EAR and ITAR regulations.

High school diploma or GED preferred. Minimum of 5 years of press brake operation experience. Welding and Press Brake experience helpful, not required. Attention to detail and decision-making skills. Computer literate. Excellent organization skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Mathematical and mechanical aptitude. Ability to bump form is a plus.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Press brake machine, overhead crane, basic hand tools, grinders, disc and belt sanders, and air-powered sanding and grinding tools, various precision measuring tools.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposed to dust, noise, fumes and chemicals; position requires the use of personal protective equipment due to hazards relevant to eyes, ears, skin and lungs.
