The Operations Plant Manager in Hamilton, WA oversees daily production processes associated with machining, fabricating, finishing and assembling composite tooling and other manufactured goods as well as managing the Manufacturing Engineers assigned to these projects.
This position requires strong people management skills and ability to communicate across multiple organizational boundaries and disciplines. Management of 200 or more personnel on three shifts in multiple work centers required.
The following essential job functions are performed as an Operations Manager:
Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes to provide a consistent flow of deliverables
Maintains heightened awareness of schedule for each project moving through the value stream to meet key project milestones
Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow for optimal use of resources
Hires and trains next tier of technicians, managers and leads to complete assigned work
Designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts
Works with Project Managers to identify and mitigate risk in the production process
Extensive experience in composite fabrication techniques including VARTM, Prepreg, and wet lamination
Must have prior experience working in an AS9100 and NADCAP quality environment

A Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering/Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Composite/Material Science, Industrial Design Technology, or a similar field is required with at least 10 years’ experience. In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, extensive work experience in a related field may be substituted. Must be familiar with a variety of the fields' concepts, practices and procedures; must be able to rely on extensive experience, problem-solving skills and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The incumbent must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language and teambuilding skills. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office products and SAP; some experience with Unigraphics and Catia is desirable.
