Hexcel is currently seeking a Design Engineer II for our Kent, WA, USA location.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
Participate in Material Review Board activities, depending on experience this may start with limited support and progress to full MRB status.
Communicate with OEM’s to resolve difficult technical issues and insure that correct repair techniques are utilized.
Work with internal and external customers to define requirements and possible trade-offs for various tool and machine designs.
Utilize CATIA V5 software to layout and develop designs for structures, tools and digital tools.
Produce and release Model Based Definition part/tool models and production drawings
Provide overall project management including internal and external suppliers to support new installations and upgrades to existing systems.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and electrical schematics, to troubleshoot any problems that may occur.
Maintain a safe, clean and secure work environment. Actively support the elimination of actual and potential safety issues, unsafe acts and/or conditions to preclude accidents.
Operate at all times in compliance with the Hexcel Kent policies, procedures, and Code of Business Conduct, Quality System and Quality Policy, Safety and Environmental policies.
Produce composite ply models (CPMs) for manufacturing using the CATIA V5 Composites Workbench.
Creation of digital programs for 5-Axis NC machines, Water Jets, Cloth Cutting Machines, and Laser Projectors.
Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, materials engineering,electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline from a four year college or university
Minimum of 5 years of experience in design (tools, parts, and/or machine design) or MRB roles
Strong analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and in the use of CATIA V5 or equivalent software
Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred
Experience using SmarTeam (Product Data Management software) preferred
Strong manufacturing experience and knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) preferred
