Job Summary & Responsibilities
This position provides support to all aspects of the R&T Applications Engineer and R&T Department. The role will focus on resin infusion process development and fabrication of aerospace demonstrators and parts. Successful candidates are required to have diverse experience in aerospace composites including materials, tooling, processes, quality inspection and hands-on fabrication.
Support the fabrication of composite aerospace parts using resin infusion process. Hands-on experience including lay-up and vacuum bagging of composites is a requirement.
Develop and refine fabrication process including tool design, vacuum bagging, process development and similar to achieve customer requirements.
Perform basic quality inspection and measurement of parts. Collect and organize data for review with Hexcel Research & Technology or customers.
Assist in defining engineering bill of materials, process documentation, composite material characterization, and similar activities for new composite development.
Assist with process improvements to ensure lowest cost production, best manufacturing processes while achieving all customer requirements.
Proficient with hand tools and mechanical capabilities. Advanced mechanical capabilities a positive for candidate.
Interpret and understand customer requirements using CAD/CAM systems.
Familiar with equipment controls and programming.
Familiar with various composite materials, processes, aerospace applications, tooling methods and quality requirements.
Attention to detail and quality is required.

Associate's Degree in a technical field from a two-year college or technical school, and minimum 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and applicable industry experience.
Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and working knowledge of CAD/CAM systems (Solidworks or Catia V5) required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical specifications, requirements, procedures, or other documents.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to to walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate power tools and machines with moving parts.
