Description

The Machine Technician performs a variety of duties and utilizes multiple skillsets. Technicians are required to follow detailed designs, instructions, and programming. 5 Axis Mill Operation, includes Tooling knowledge, Calibrated equipment, machine operation, part loading, clamping, and machine maintenance are some daily tasks.

The Machine Technician has three levels of competency to be determined by performance, certifications, and supervisor discretion:

I Basic to Capable

II Proficient to Expert

III Proficient to Expert and includes Certifications for Metrology, NC Programming, and/or Welding

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

are performed as a Machine Technician III:

Determines methods, cutter types and cutting parameters depending on a variety of materials (composites, epoxies, steel, aluminum, etc.) and design specifications
Designs 3-D computer models, drawings and specifications for fabrication of fixturing elements
Creates 3-5 axis tool paths utilizing Unigraphics CAD/CAM software
Provides input in production tracking software.
Works with process engineers on planning of manufacturing process to ensure that quality and design objectives are achieved.
Creates shop documentation for setup of the machines complying with ISO 9000 standards.
Analyzes laser-tracking data to assure quality of the setup, when applicable.
QUALIFICATIONS

U.S. PERSON STATUS MAY BE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION. Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a)(3).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED required, college level or trade school education preferred. One or more years of experience in related field may be substituted for education.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES

Reads and understands blue prints, isometric drawings and work orders
Receives and carries out directions from designated Supervisors and Production Leads
Must be able to understand and comply with Safety Practices
Properly executes Hazardous Material Disposal activities
Performs prescribed maintenance on machines and facilities as required
Works in other Cells to support Production as required, ie; Mold Fab or Assembly Cells
Performs on the job training, AS9100, Nadcap training and other training as required
Janicki Certified, Overhead Crane, Forklift and Manlift Operation (as a separate Certification)
Compliance with 5S, AS9100 and Nadcap Standards and Practices
Operation of Pneumatic and Power tools, drills, grinders, saws, impact drivers, sanders, etc.
5 Axis Mill Operation, includes Tooling knowledge, Calibrated equipment, machine operation, part loading and clamping, machine maintenance
Understanding of mill gauging procedures
Metrology, part leveling, fixturing, equipment handling, laser tracker, radar and targeting as well as Spatial Analyzer Operation as a separate Certification
NC Programming (as a separate Certification)
Familiar with the use/cleaning of shop paint guns and equipment
WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to do repetitive tasks for an entire shift. Must be able to sit, stand, or crouch down for extended periods. Must be able to climb ladders and work platforms. Exposed to noise, dust, dirt, and paint fumes. Must be able to work under hot and cold conditions. Personal protective equipment (PPE), safety glasses and respirator will be required. Must be comfortable working within confined spaces and at various heights
