Executive Director, Mary Kaye Bredeson of the Center of Excellence for Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing will attend a roundtable meeting today with The Governor General of Canada,
His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston. The purpose of the meeting is a discussion surrounding the culture of innovation and improving STEM education.
The meeting, held at the Edgewater Hotel in Seattle, is one of the last gatherings in a week-long trade mission to the Western U.S. for the Governor General.
Round-Table Discussion on Innovation
The Governor General will meet with academic, business and innovation leaders to discuss major innovation and trade trends, opportunities and challenges that characterize the technology ecosystem in Seattle.
Attendees of the meeting include representatives from the Governor General of Canada’s office in addition to Washington-based businesses and organizations:
- WA Technical Industries
- Trade Commissioner for Aerospace, Defense and Security
The discussion will focus on educational supply and demand felt by both Canada and the United States in securing a skilled labor and a technical workforce.
During the trade mission, the Governor General has also met with Google, Milken Global Conference, UCLA, Qualcomm, University of San Diego, UC Berkeley, Canadian Technology Accelerator at RocketSpace, Stanford Center on Philanthropy, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Microsoft.
